About Me

Angela Quinn, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

Professional:

I am an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  If you don’t know what an IBCLC is, click here to read about it: What is an IBCLC.  I went through the lengthy training and certification process to become an IBCLC after almost a decade of helping mothers to successfully breastfeed, first informally and then as a  La Leche League  Leader.  I have a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Michigan and am currently pursuing my MBA through DeSales University.

Special Expertise:

Although I provide general breastfeeding support and consultation, I have special interest/experience (and in some cases additional formal training) in the following areas:

  • Twins/Multiples (I breastfed my own twins!)
  • Allergies
  • Working and breastfeeding
  • Pumping support
  • Tongue-tie (Ankyloglossia)

My Philosophy:

In addition to my IBCLC training, my own experiences have been widely varied enough to give me an appreciation for the ineffectiveness of a one-size-fits-all approach to breastfeeding support.  I believe in treating each mother-baby dyad as an unique pair.  I believe in respecting each mother’s needs and desires and empowering her to achieve her own goals.  I believe that every baby is different and every baby deserves to be cared for by a healthy, happy mother.

Personal:

I have four beautiful (I think so), lovely (most of the time), challenging (always) children who keep me on my toes.  I have an older boy, a younger girl and a set of twins in the middle. In my spare time (yes, that was sarcastic), I like to read, write, run marathons, and coach my kids’ youth wrestling team.  Breastfeeding and parenting my own children has taught me much, and constantly reminds me that I never stop learning.  I did not have a perfect breastfeeding journey, and the obstacles I overcame made me passionate about helping other mothers to reach their own goals
